QR Link Page Maintenance Checklist: Check, Update, and Retest

A QR link page can still load while individual destinations, labels, or printed promises have become outdated. Review the visitor path, record issues, correct them, retest, and assign follow-up.

Start with the Maintenance Question

The question is not only “Does the page open?” Ask: “Does this page still open the intended resources, accurately describe them, and serve the purpose of the QR?”

This is a human maintenance workflow for an already-published page. It covers inspection, issue records, corrections, retesting, and follow-up rather than building a new page.

Assign a Reviewer

Name one person responsible for the review: the owner, manager, marketing person, or another team member. The reviewer does not need to be the person who originally created the page.

Maintenance remains a human responsibility. Decide who checks the page and who can resolve issues that require another person or an external service provider.

Choose Review Triggers

Review when relevant contact details, services, business information, or event information change; when external resources move; or when promotions expire. Long-running printed items also need attention while they remain in use.

Periodic reviews may be useful, but choose their timing according to the page’s real use and how often its resources change. No single interval is sufficient for every page. These are operational recommendations, not GreenQR Link reminders or scheduled-review features.

Open the QR Destination

Start with the actual QR or the known URL it opens. Confirm that the intended GreenQR Link page is available, the correct page opens, and it still serves the QR’s original purpose. A loading page alone does not mean the review has passed.

One GreenQR Link QR can open one GreenQR Link page containing several destination links. Those links may lead to existing external resources or services; GreenQR Link does not provide those external services simply by linking to them.

Check Each External Resource

Open each destination. Confirm that it reaches the intended resource, the information remains relevant, and the visible label accurately describes what opens. Record broken or obsolete destinations and unexpected redirects.

A redirect alone is not a defect if it still reaches the intended, relevant resource. Check the final destination rather than removing a link solely because it redirects.

Review Relevance

A destination may load successfully but no longer belong on the page. Keep a resource because it still serves the QR’s purpose, not simply because its URL works.

Illustrative examples of resources to review include an expired campaign page, an old service, outdated contact information, an event resource after the event, or a retired product’s support page. Check the context: an older resource may still be useful to someone holding the original printed item. These examples are not customer cases.

Record Issues

Use a simple maintenance record containing the page or resource checked, the issue found, the responsible person, the action needed, and its current status. For unresolved issues, add a follow-up date or trigger.

The record can be kept separately in a document or spreadsheet. This is general operational guidance, not a claim that GreenQR Link provides built-in maintenance logs, review history, or alerts.

Correct and Retest

Where appropriate, edit or remove existing Link blocks, correct labels, and remove obsolete resources. For destination organization and editing, see Smart QR Landing Pages.

After a correction, repeat the visitor path: open the GreenQR Link page, follow the relevant external resource, and compare the visible label with what opens. Check the printed prompt where applicable. Verify the result instead of assuming a propagation time.

A printed QR can remain usable after destination edits only if it still opens the same available GreenQR Link page URL. Updating page content does not visually change the printed QR image.

Check Printed Promises Briefly

The page and its links may be correct while surrounding printed wording has become inaccurate. Illustrative examples include an expired offer, old hours, an outdated phone number, or a stale scan prompt.

Online edits do not correct words already printed. For the full replacement decision, read When Can You Update a Printed QR Without Reprinting?.

Record Completion

Record the reviewer, review date, unresolved issues, who owns follow-up, and the next review trigger. A completed review can still have open issues; note them explicitly rather than recording the page as fully corrected.

These records are maintained by people. This workflow does not imply that GreenQR Link stores them automatically or monitors resources between reviews.

Illustrative Maintenance Example

A business reviews a QR page used on a counter card. The page opens, but one external service page has moved and its label still describes the old resource. Another destination remains valid.

The reviewer records the affected resource, the outdated label, the action needed, and who will resolve it. The affected Link block is edited to use the relevant current resource and label, or removed if it no longer belongs.

The reviewer then retests the page and destinations, checks that the counter card’s printed prompt still matches, and notes completion and any unresolved follow-up. The valid destination is retained because it still serves the card’s purpose.

This is an illustrative example, not a customer case study or result.
